  Mission Statement
The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy works as a catalyst for the conservation of wildlife and its habitat.
It does this through the protection and management of species, the initiation and support of community conservation and development programmes, and the education of neighbouring areas in the value of wildlife.

Game Ranger Diaries
Channel 5 – UK – Wednesdays 7.15 – 8.00pm weekly

five's Game Ranger Diaries.Between early May and the end of July Lewa hosted a film crew of three people from Tigress TV – a production company based in Bristol, UK, who followed virtually every waking moment of the staff at Lewa.  Their aim was to capture and film the day to day activities of the Conservancy, concentrating on the wildlife and security elements of Lewa.

If you've seen the Game Ranger Diaries programme on the marathon and would like more information on the event please contact:

Mike Hutchinson and Daniela Pulverer were the film camera people with Katie Toovey as an edit assistant.  The crew occupied three very simple tents and were at work every day – either following the staff around or facing daunting task of cutting their footage into ten 45 minute episodes.

As the filming progressed it became apparent that the series would do well to focus on the day to day work of the wildlife rangers as they went about their interesting and varied jobs.  During the filming there was also the major highlight of the Safaricom Marathon – a full and half marathon run around the conservancy, a fund raising event which this year raised over $200,000 for charity.

The series will also show the major role that Lewa plays in community conservation and capacity building with a look into our education, clinic, micro-credit, rural banking and water projects.  Lewa also plays a major role in supporting the Northern Rangelands Trust – an expanding community conservation initiative in the north of Kenya.

Game Ranger Diaries on Channel 5 features Lewa's security teams.
Game Ranger Diaries on Channel 5 features Lewa's security teams.

All in all we hope that the ten episode series will give viewers an insight into what can be done to preserve wildlife in Africa, as well as improve livelihoods.

The programme will include a competition too.

Watch it!
