Ian Craig Appointed to the Board of the Kenya Wildlife Service

October 15, 2008

On September 15, 2008, Lewa's founder and Strategic Director, Ian Craig, was appointed to the board of the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) by the Ministry for Forestry and Wildlife. The Kenya Wildlife Service is the government agency charged with the protection and conservation of the country's biodiversity: its fauna and its flora. This is a huge honor for Ian and the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and recognition of the impact Ian's work has had on Kenya's wildlife in the past 20 years. .

Ian was appointed for a three-year term. He was assigned 1 of the 6 seats on the Board of KWS and will be responsible for helping to guide the policy and strategic direction of KWS. Ian is now in an ideal position to influence and shape Kenya's conservation agenda. He brings to the table his practical and pragmatic approach to community-based conservation.

"This is a great honor for me, and I am thrilled by this appointment" said Ian Craig. "I will continue to dedicate my life to Kenya's wildlife. I look forward working alongside other great conservationists on the Board of KWS to advance Kenya's conservation agenda."
