Rains on Lewa and baby elephant rescued.
On the 2nd of November the Lewa OPS room got a call from West Gate Conservancy. They had a one month old female baby elephant calf that had been abandoned by its mother. No-one knows why this happened but the calf seems healthy and in good condition.
Lewa collected the calf and sent it down to Daphne Sheldrick's elephant orphanage in Nairobi. The calf is doing well and is growing by the day.
The rains have come and Lewa is looking amazing. After over a year with almost no rain the Conservancy is now booming with green grass and the animals are looking healthy and fat. Since the beginning of November we have had 84 mm of rain and there is more to come.
