Finally the long awaited rains have arrived on Lewa and the North!
In the last week we have had lost and lots of rain and it looks like it will continue for some time. We all are very relieved about this and we hope that the communities up north will be able to recover quickly from the recent drought.
Lewa Kids to London On 21st of April 2006, four children will leave their villages near Lewa and travel to the UK to join seven other Kenyan athletes for the world renowned Flora London Marathon.
In July Paul Tergat (current world Marathon Record holder) presented the winners of the 2005 Lewa Safaricom Marathon Kid's race with their prize that included the four-day trip to the UK.
This opportunity is part of the Next Generation; a series of initiatives promoting the development of sporting excellence among the youth of Kenya and the UK. The British High Commission believes the experience these children will gain this month will enhance their chance of representing Kenya in the 2012 Olympics to be held in London.
The trip includes flights generously donated by British Airways, accommodation in host families from the Cambridge Harriers Athletics Club, and an invitation by Unilever to be guest runners in the much sought after mini-marathon held on the morning of the London marathon (23rd April 2006)
