Two White Rhino Moved From Lewa to Enasoit Ranch in Laikipia.

February 03, 2005 Sara Spendrup

Two white rhino (one male and one female) were caught on 29th and 30th January, on Lewa, and moved to our holding pens to be "boma trained" for onward re-location to Enasoit Ranch in Laikipia. These two animals are a gift from Lewa to Enasoit, who are very keen to initiate a new rhino sanctuary in Laikipia. Following six weeks of boma training, both rhino were showing all the right signs of being ready to be moved to their new home. They were being hand fed easily, freely moving into the rhino crates themselves and physically in excellent condition. On the 16th of March the two rhino were moved to Enasoit without any hitches. They were released into holding pens where they will be held for further boma training and familiarization to their new surroundings.
