Lord Deedes Visits Lewa

March 20, 2003 Belinda Low

As part of the London Daily Telegraph Christmas Appeal Lord Deedes has just finished a 6 day visit to the Conservancy, Il Ngwesi and Namunyak.

The Appeal features four charities and this year Tusk has been one of the nominated ones. Bill, seen above with Toki the cheetah, spent his time at Lewa, visiting and seeing Namunyak and the community project at Il Ngwesi. Even at the tender age of 91 Lord Deedes set a pace that we all struggled to keep up with as he gathered information. He was particularly taken with our work in conserving the Grevy and the number of elephant he saw (indeed there have been hundreds on Lewa recently). As a keen ornithologist he was also impressed with the number and variety of birds seen here.

Lord Deedes article will be published this Saturday in the Saturday Telegraph and his regular column on Monday will also include items on the Conservancy.

The Telegraph Appeal is still running so you still have time to donate to the work of Tusk being done throughout Africa.
