BREAKING: LEWA CLINCHES TWO GLOBAL AWARDS IN ONE WEEK!
This has been a successful week for the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. On Sunday, Lewa was recognised at the Safari Awards in London, followed by a Silver Award at the World Responsible Tourism Awards on Wednesday.
The Safari Award results were announced at a cocktail reception at Paramount Bar, looking out over London. The room was filled with familiar and well-respected names from the safari world and Lewa was honoured to take home the title of runner up for “Best Conservation Organisation”. Sponsored by the independent Good Safari Guide and led by a team of 13 highly respected independent safari specialists from Australia, Germany, USA and the UK, the Safari Awards saw over 15000 public and travel trade nominations for over 365 safari properties, guides and operators representing the future of wildlife tourism and conservation in Africa.
Following on the excitement of Sunday, Lewa Overseas representatives attended the World Travel Market where Lewa was a finalist for the World Responsible Tourism Awards. The World Responsible Tourism Awards were aimed at developing quality tourism products that promote cultural integrity and environmental protection. As one judge described it, gold and silver winners of this prestigious recognition “have a vision that extends beyond the commercial – linking business success with the well being of local communities and the longevity of their environments. They want to make profits with principles, communicate balance sheets alongside beliefs, and won’t undermine passion in the pursuit of professionalism. They are resilient, determined, humanising advocates for their destinations. They are the future of tourism.”
Lewa was thrilled to take home a Silver Award for “Best in Poverty Reduction”, one of the longest standing categories.
