Cleaning up Ngare Ndare
Lewa's neighbouring community of Ngare Ndare is severely polluted. As a result, the community suffers from frequent outbreaks of illnesses and often lacks clean and safe water.
On the 17th of October, Lewa staff, local administration, the Laikipia Wildlife Forum and other environmental bodies came out to spearhead environmental conservation in the area by collecting visible garbage for disposal.
The clean up was a success that can be largely attributed to the school children, as young as seven years old, who came out in hundreds for the exercise!
Lewa, along with the community and local authorities will now seek to establish a future management plan that will ensure that the town's sanitation is sustainably improved.
