How did you Celebrate your World Rhino Day?
Every year, conservationists and rhino lovers across the globe set aside the 22nd of September to celebrate this iconic animal.
Look at who came out this year to celebrate the rhino on Lewa!
Black rhinos Nicky, Hope and Kilifi, their keepers, tracker dog Tipper, armed rangers, NRT and Lewa staff including our CEO Mike Watson, tourists, safari guides and many others!
The day, dubbed 'Palm it for Rhinos', saw the participants dip their hands in water-based paint and afterwards laying the prints on canvas as proof of their commitment to rhino conservation. Not to be left behind was Tipper the tracker dog who also displayed his commitment with his paws!
Though poaching continues to put tremendous pressure on rhino populations across the globe, significant strides are still being made by conservationists. Lewa and Borana Conservancy are especially proud of their latest achievement which has created more room for the critically endangered black rhino.
