On July 31st each year, the world unites to celebrate the remarkable efforts of wildlife rangers, the backbone of conservation, during World Ranger Day. We also remember the dedicated individuals who have lost their lives in the effort to protect our planet’s biodiversity and ensure our communities are safe.
The theme for World Ranger Day 2024 is ‘30 by 30’, inspired by and landmark agreement from the 2022 United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP15). ‘30 by 30’ initiative aims to address biodiversity loss and restore ecosystems by ensuring that at least 30 percent of the planet is successfully conserved and managed by 2030.
Rangers are crucial in achieving this ambitious target. They are at the forefront of conservation efforts, serving as protectors, monitors, environmentalists, cultural historians, educators, and first responders to community alerts.
Achieving the ambitious ‘30 by 30’ goal is impossible without an adequately equipped and skilled workforce. On this World Ranger Day, we invite you to stand with us in supporting these courageous individuals on their mission to safeguard our precious natural treasures.
How You Can Help
Supporting rangers can be as simple as ensuring they have the necessary equipment to perform their duties effectively. Even seemingly small contributions, such as providing a pair of socks to keep them warm during harsh weather conditions or a pair of boots for their 16-kilometer daily patrols, can make a significant difference.
Every step we take to support our rangers ensures progress towards achieving the ‘30 by 30’ goal. Invest in our rangers and the future of our planet using this link.
