As human populations grow and communities expand, a quiet but intense struggle unfolds in northern Kenya between people and wildlife. Baboons, monkeys, and elephants frequently raid farms, while lions prey on livestock, putting the livelihoods—and lives—of local communities and wildlife at risk. These communities, often the first line of defense against poaching have felt the strain of these ongoing conflicts.

In response, Lewa established a dedicated team in 2021, trained and available 24/7 to manage conflicts between humans and wildlife. The team works tirelessly to diffuse tense situations before they escalate, safeguarding both people and wildlife and promoting harmony between communities and nature.

During this giving season, from today until 31 December, 2024, you can play a vital role in supporting our work to protect wildlife and promote coexistence with the communities that live alongside them.

We aim to raised $200,000 USD by year’s end. A sum that will be matched dollar for dollar by generous Lewa supporters, magnifying the impact of your gift. Join us in our effort to not only protect endangered species in northern Kenya but also uplift communities through education, sustainable agriculture, women’s microenterprise, and healthcare.
