Our resident Kenya Wildlife Service vet, Dr Matthew Mutinda, is a busy man. Operating from a landcruiser, the vet and his team move across northern Kenya treating injured and sick animals, conducting wildlife rescues and helping to alleviate human-wildlife conflict. The vet and his team are also vital in the translocation of wildlife to new sanctuaries, such as the most recent move of black rhinos from Lewa to Sera Community Conservancy.
Dr Mutinda’s days are never dull, and his passion and tremendous skill have seen hundreds of endangered animal lives saved.
